Seminar ECC has organized a seminar titled “An overview of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services “by Nina Sachdev and “Immigration and Customs Enforcement “ by Rosa Mengesha on 05 /19/ 2017. Nina Sachdev is a Community Relations Officers with the local U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office in San Francisco. In this capacity, she organizes outreach events where she and immigration officers speak to the community, organizations, cities, counties and other agencies about USCIS immigration benefits and services. She started with USCIS in 2007 after going to UC Davis Law School. She has worked as an asylum officer, refugee officer going to Nepal, Jordan and Istanbul to interview refugees, a supervisor, deputy director and appeals officer before joining the public engagement team in San Francisco. Rosa Mengesha is a Community Relations Officer at the U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement. Rosa has 10 years of experience in strategic outreach, public relations, business and partnership development as well as workforce planning in various environments including Federal and local government, the private sector as well as the united nations. earlier in her career Rosa was journalist in Eritrea. Rosa holds an MBA with a focus in Public Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management in San Francisco, CA as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Asmara in Eritrea. Ruth Silver Taube will be presenting a "Know Your Employment Rights" seminar. Ruth will cover wage and hour laws, discrimination, harassment, leave acts, workers' compensation, SDI, short and long term disability, and rights of the undocumented.
